For more than eight years, Julia Petryk has headed up PR for MacPaw, a Kyiv-based company known for publishing apps that clean and speed up Mac computers. For many in our profession, it would be a dream job, in a dream city.
Then came the Russians.
Within the first hours of the Russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Petryk and others knew that they had a part to play in repelling invaders and marshaling the forces of Ukraine’s allies.
Petryk and others founded the initiative, PR Army as a response to the Russian violation of international agreements and its lawless invasion of Ukraine. PR and Comms experts got together to build a strong Ukrainian presence in the global arena and make Ukrainian voices vocal all over the world.
Listeners, we are fortunate to hear from a professional literally on the front lines—and today we ask her how the public relations profession—literally a PR Army--can be as valuable to freedom as any weapon in a foxhole.
